Why make a short film?
Making film has been called a large labour of love and there is always one of many reasons behind the point of making one. As media students we have been studying all sorts of short films from different websites and at the European Film Festival. Short films can be made by anyone who is willing to take on the task. They are distributed by being put online or being entered in certain competitions and festivals. Just like the ones we watched in Paris. There was a student that had his film being shown there who said he literally just phoned up and asked for his film to be shown. When they watched it they liked it so it had a premiere at the festival.
To further our knowledge in film we got the opportunity to visit the european film festival in Paris. We got the chance to watch loads of different independent films, short films, feature films, documentaries, music videos and animations from all different types of directors both upcoming and established from all over the world. This opened my eyes not to just different types of films but also varied my knowledge to the reasoning behind them.
People make short films for many different reasons from business and the financial side of it to making them for a personal benefit.
The audience that joined us at the film festival in Paris was varied. Both young and old from a variety of different backgrounds.

The new plan and the new shoot
We had trouble with shooting our full film at first due to lack of actors and we were unable to get back into the house we had filmed in originally because someone had boarded it up. When we gathered the correct amount of actors, we found a new location which was suitable for our film. We sat down as a team and discussed the plan of action. The members of the team are Ella Davey, Beth Smith and myself. The new location was set at my house and some parts were also filmed in my shed at the bottom of my garden. These are some of the notes that were produced from our team meeting. The plot of the final film, the actors, the location, the time we were to meet, the props we needed and costume we needed to wear.
Ella and I decided to work with each other because we have different skills that we could use to our strengths and putting these strengths together would make a great team. We decided to chose Beth Smith as the main character in our film because she does drama A Level and has the right look we needed for the character who gets possessed in our film. She also has a brilliant scream.
Ella and I made a schedule so we knew when and where we would be filming or doing other pieces of work to prepare ourselves for the film. We also gave one to Beth so she knew when and where we would be filming.

Shooting problems
Our second draft film didn't turn out quite to plan due to unreliable actors and bad choice of location, as we were not allowed to use the same location as our sample scene because it was no longer accessible.
